A timely post indeed from Gina at Lifehacker: Rebuild Your Mac With 20 Useful Downloads seeing as I ordered Leopard just yesterday for myself and my team. I expect this will be a good opportunity to take stock of the app madness sitting in my applications folder and maybe do a bit of fall cleaning as well.

For a while now I've been considering how best to manage the ridiculous (well I think they're ridiculous) amount of fees I've been shelling out to our local telecom company. I have a landline of course and maintain 2 cellphone accounts, add long distance on them all and it certainly adds up month to month.

Enter VoIP services and mVoIP. As I dig deeper into the possibilities I keep asking myself "and why am I not taking advantage of this?" Surely not from any altruistic sense of wanting to contribute my fair share to the infrastructure costs. Hell no. Just plain hesitant to jump ship. Except I'm getting to the point where the ship I'm on is just plain irritating. I'm frankly tired of the arrogance of the phone company and their outrageous nickle and dime schemes to part you from your hard-earned cash.
